The Institute
The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest genomic sequencing centers in Europe.
CNAG is a non-profit public consortium formed by the General State Administration through the Ministry of Science, Research and Universities (MICIU) and the Government of Catalonia (CG).
CNAG carries out genome sequencing and analysis projects in diverse areas such as human disease (cancer, rare diseases, immune-mediated diseases), microbial genomics, biodiversity, evolutionary studies, and the improvement of species of agricultural/livestock interest. Our organization contributes to strengthening the life sciences ecosystem at both national and international levels, participating in Catalan, Spanish, European and global initiatives aimed at breaking the barriers of current knowledge and building new solutions with international reach.
We participate in major international genomic initiatives such as the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (iHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA), and the European Life Sciences Information Infrastructure (ELIXIR).
CNAG´s annual turnover is more than 12 million Euros.
The Role
The Structural Genomics Group headed by Marc A. Marti-Renom and hosted at the CNAG and the Genome Biology Program of the CRG is seeking a specialized technician to work in the field of structural genomics.
Currently, we are seeking a Biologist to join our lab as part of the Center for Genome Imaging (CGI, https://www.cegs-cgi.org). CGI’s journey aims to image, analyze, and model the human genome at super-resolution. This center is shared with The Wu lab (Harvard Medical School), the Neretti Lab (Brown U.) and the Aiden Lab (Baylor). The successful candidate will be closely collaborating with the members of the CGI to develop new experimental and computational approaches to model genomes in space and time. Additionally, she/he is expected to collaborate in projects involved in fundamental, applied and clinical research covering diverse areas of human health, disease and model organisms. Experience in Hi-C, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq as well as Knowledge coding in a Python environment are a must. Experience in structural biology and/or restraint-based modeling will be a plus.
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative thinking individual who is interested in working in an environment where the technical sophistication of structural genomics technologies meets innovative approaches for interpreting data and generating new knowledge. We require the ability for working in a multi-disciplinary context on collaborative projects.
Please, visit our web site at http://marciuslab.org to see our work and all publications from the group.
