CNAG – The Institute
The CNAG Consortium carries out large-scale projects in DNA/RNA analysis for the improvement of quality of life in collaboration with the Spanish, European and International Research Community. The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe, with several Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencers, state-of-the-art single-cell equipment, and an extensive informatics infrastructure. The operation is certified ISO 9001 and accredited ISO 17025, delivering standardized, high-quality data for research and clinics. The CNAG has over 125, structured in different units such Bioinformatics, Sequencing, Single-cell, Research and Corporate Management, and participates in major International Genome Initiatives and EU-funded projects.
The Role
In IO, we aim to delineate mechanisms and dynamics of immune cell infiltration and plasticity in tumors, to provide precise prediction of therapy success.
In IMID, we seek to identify inflammatory disease-specific biomarkers to understand mechanisms driving disease progression and response to treatment across large acute and chronic patient cohorts.
While applying single-cell and spatial genomics tools to delineate the complexity of tumors or inflamed tissues, a particular focus lies on the use of blood samples as a liquid biopsy tool for repeated, longitudinal studies. This will allow us to build predictive models for patient outcome and, eventually, foundation models for immune cell plasticity and natural/clinical perturbations.
We are looking for 2 enthusiastic computational scientists, motivated to improve patient outcome and healthcare. Together, we aim to bring single-cell and spatial genomics applications into clinical use and to advance pathology assessment with high-dimensional genomics readouts (next-generation pathology).
The candidates will be integrated in the Single Cell Genomics Team, a highly collaborative, international work environment with well-experienced colleagues in single-cell and spatial data generation and analysis. They will be involved in projects that aim to understand the molecular and cellular basis of immune cell action, through the application of multi-omics single-cell and spatial technologies on clinical samples.
Candidates’ tasks include the analysis of single-cell and spatial data and the development of statistical methods for the integration with clinical patient information. We are looking for highly motivated and a creative thinking individuals, who are interested in working in an environment where the technical sophistication of single-cell and spatial technologies meets innovative approaches for interpreting data and generating new knowledge. We require the ability for working in a multi-disciplinary team on collaborative projects.
