As part of the 25th Anniversary of the Human Genome programme, organised jointly by CNAG and EASIGEN-DS, CNAG is hosting a conference within the ‘Grandes de la Ciencia’ series in collaboration with CosmoCaixa, bringing one of the most influential voices behind the first publication of the book of life.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Ewan Birney, co-author of the first human genome draft and Executive Director of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (UK), Royal Society Fellow, CBE, who will deliver the conference "25 Years of the First Human Genome Sequence".
Dr Birney will take the audience on a historical journey through the human genome, from the earliest discoveries to the most recent advances, exploring how humanity has come to understand its genetic information and how genomics has transformed molecular biology. The lecture will also highlight the key milestones that have shaped this essential discipline in modern science.
Our Director at CNAG, Ivo Gut, will introduce the speaker and take part in a round table, moderated by our Strategy Officer, Mireia Vaca-Dempere.
- Time: Wednesday, 8 April, 19:00
- Venue: CosmoCaixa (Isaac Newton, 8, Barcelona)
- Notes: The lecture will be in English with simultaneous Spanish and Catalan translation. Limited seating; wheelchair-accessible. Please arrive on time.
